been a while since I blogged. This is such a weird phenomenon, ppl start writing about their lives on public/private domains. Its kinda interesting to see the way people evolve over the years as you browse through their pics. There's usually always some alcohol involved, some trip, some party, some get-together. Anyway, I never caught on the blog craz. Just a little update: still play'n ball w/ my boys, going strong in the Master of biotech, got a full year contract @ GlaxoSmithKline (yes, I am now enslaved into the corporate society), I can bench press 260lbs, I drive an acura, I live in Mississauga and I bought a new snowboard (Sapient Divide, Burton Hail Boots, Burton Custom Bindings). So, life as a masters student has been good, busy, but good. Of the Bay Street Boys, 3 have become CEO's (James - GSK, Olau - Deloitte, Mike - CA) while JT is still slaving at law. It takes an interesting character to become a lawyer: someone who loves to talk, hear himself/herself talk, deceptive, live at the boundary of morals and ethics, argues, writes poems, generally weird and love $$. Maybe I am exagerating a bit. Anyway, peace, got a life.

 

 

Kiss my ass U of T, I beat you.

I am done, starting masters of biotech on monday. My best bud from BC is coming to visit, I am moving to a new place, getting in shape for b-ball, Busy!!

Anyway, the last 4 years have been busy but memorable, hope I don't go through it again, U of T is a living hell!! Tell you kids/nephews/brothers/sisters not to come here if you want a future in Medicine/Law/Dentistry. Anyway, peace, i am catching up on lost sleep.

 

 

Wow.. done nothing this exam period.

I did my fair share of work, thesis report, thesis presentation, 50pg lab report.. afterwards.. zip studying even though I got one first day. Watched Happy Gilmour, Office Space, X-men, Mission Impossible I and II, Ace Ventura.. Went to play b-ball w/ mike like twice, ate out, slept, waste my time on the entire volumn of SLam Dunk manga and the enire bleach manga from 1- 224.. haha.. yep.. greatest exam period ever.. Yo Mike, just becuase u are gonna stay for ryerson, doesn't mean u can defer man :)

 

Anyway, I was reading up on the Mclean's ranking of schools and someone needs to slap the guy who does it in the face and put him in U of T for undergrad. I mean, who the hell places universities that only excel at one or two subject areas over U of T? To all fairness, U of T is by far the hardest and the most difficult to graduate university in "Canada" and on par w/ the rest of the American "Elite Schools". They should let the students do the rankings because .. no offense or anything to other people in otheruniversity, well for those that transfered out of U of T, u would agree w/ me, U of T is vicious and the rest is a walk in the park. I may sound bitter, I am just bored out of mind @ 3 am studying for my biochemistry lab course. No other course in the world would compare to this nightmare of a course... Every friday, 10-6 for the entire year, each lab report = 30-50 pages, discussion days are from 10 -5, u have to come in durign the week and do crap, prep is at least a couple of hours before each lab day, exam u can't study for because it tests on concepts not how you memorize. More ranting... I wouldn't put my life in 1/2 the med school students they let into the prgram cause they probably have the worst hand-eye coordination because their astigmatism is too strong and no corrective lenses can correct it or that they will end up diagnosing a wrong disease because they have no skills except for memorizing a whole Sh*t load of facts.

 

My rant for the week

just want to say, thank God that I survived 4 years at U of T. People can hate me for this, but no other Canadian school is as tough as U of T period. Its not hard to get in, but they sure filter out people like water. @ the semi-formal last night, of the 300+ people, how many wanted to go to Med school, probably only like 25-50 people made it, the rest?? Grad school? with Canada's current lack of funding, the decline of science in North America from foreign talents, there is no way that they can all find Post Doc fellowships and secure a tenure @ a decent university. I just hope that all the people that I care about will find something worthwhile to do in their life and do it to thebest of their ability because the competition is tougher than ever.

 

On a lighter note, it is almost exam time and its been a blast! Hope you had a wonderful birthday Frassy and thank you all for coming out to the cruise.

 

Going to Boston at the end of May for our team's third annual North American Chinese Basketball Tournament .. must crack Top 10!!

Last day university = April 13th, grad formal, mango's birthday, 50 page lab report, thesis, thesis presentation, 3 exams, 5 days of summer then start Masters of biotech. I tried my best to sum up my life in the next month or so, its gonna be hectic.. Had big breakfast w/ JT, Mike, Frassy and let me tell you, that stuff @ Fran's is GREASY!!! but i ate mine and mike's hashbrowns, talk about a late breakfast, we went there @ like 1am and it was packed, i guess everyone downtown slept late and wake up late like us. Anyway, I am enjoying the perks of getting into a competitive graduate program :).. Thank God and thank my parents for all the blessings. I will be moving to mississauga in May and I can't wait to finish undergrad. U of T, I survived you and I beat the system! Thanks mike for enlightening me with your mastery in deferring.

2 months left in school, I will be getting my honors Biochem degree, 5 days after my last exam, i will be starting the next chapter of my life... 2 years at the Masters of biotechnology program @ U T M and hopefully I will land some good placements! In the mean time, i have a huge desire to slack off and play ball everyday, but no can't do, gotta do my lab reports, keep up with my notes and hull my lazy ass to the lab. Anyway, thanks for the prayers and encouragments, looks like my vacation will have to be postponed!
